Dan Schwarz MD, MPH is the Director of Primary Health Care at Ariadne Labs.
Dan brings to the team over a decade of global experience in facility- and community-based healthcare delivery. Prior to joining Ariadne Labs, Dan served as the Executive Director and then Chief Medical Officer for Possible Health (www.possiblehealth.org), which works in an innovative public-private partnership with the Nepali Ministry of Health providing integrated community and facility-based health care for nearly 250,000 residents in rural Nepal.
Dan has also worked extensively for Partners In Health (www.pih.org) in multiple countries, focusing on scale-up of national primary care and NCD-specific initiatives. Dan has published widely on primary health care quality improvement, community health mobilization approaches, mHealth, open access electronic health records, and HIV and TB control in both Nepal and Zimbabwe.
Dan completed his undergraduate studies at Vassar College, received his MPH from Harvard School of Public Health, and his MD from Brown University. Clinically, Dan is trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics from the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. He practices as a hospitalist at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and has faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School, the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Division of Global Health Equity, and the Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care.
