Button Ricarte, MD, is a Research Manager on the Primary Health Care team of Ariadne Labs. He leads the development of knowledge resources for multi-partner engagements such as the Primary Health Care Performance Initiative, through the learning workstream. Button also collaborates with policymakers and technical officers from diverse low- and middle-income countries.
Before joining Ariadne Labs, Button worked as researcher in the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, where their team developed guidance documents for the WHO on primary health care, health emergencies, and health in fragile and conflict-affected states. Prior to ITM, he was a health policy researcher who helped design and lobby for the Universal Health Care Law in the Philippines. Button also worked as a community physician at the Smokey Mountain dumpsite in Manila, and has since worked for government, academia, NGOs, and the private sector. Button earned both his undergraduate and doctor of medicine degrees from the University of the Philippines – Manila.
