Gwill York
Gwill York, MBA, is a pioneering entrepreneur with 30 years of experience financing early-stage technology and healthcare companies. Gwill co-founded Lighthouse Capital Partners in 1994, a structured venture capital partnership based in Cambridge and Menlo Park. At Lighthouse, she led investments in companies such as Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Cascade Communications, Sirocco Systems, Speechworks, Storage Networks and Netflix.
Gwill serves as Chair of the Board of the Boston Museum of Science, the first science museum in the country. She also serves as the Trustee Treasurer of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and is Chair-Elect of the Harvard Medical School Board of Fellows. Gwill is on the Board of Directors of Partners HealthCare where she chairs the Information Systems Committee, and is a Trustee of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she sits on the Community Care, the Continually Improving Care, and the Finance Committees.
Gwill was elected to the Board of Overseers of Harvard University in 2013. She is on the Dean’s Advisory Board of the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Science as well as the Rock Center for Entrepreneurship at Harvard Business School where she served from 2008-2013 as an Entrepreneur in Residence. Gwill has served as the head judge of the HBS Business Plan Contest since 2011 and was a Board Member of The New England Venture Capital Association for over ten years.
She is a member of the Board of Directors of One Mind and she most recently joined the Advisory Board at Ariadne Labs.
Gwill holds an AB in economics from Harvard University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
