Ryan Brewster
Ryan Brewster a pediatrician and health services researcher at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. His scholarship focuses on building, scaling, and evaluating technology-enabled models of care delivery with an emphasis on child health equity. Ongoing initiatives include implementing pediatric home hospital, studying the use of artificial intelligence for medical translation and interpretation, and expanding tele-neonatology services in India. Dr. Brewster completed his residency training in the Boston Combined Residency Program (Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine) and is a graduate of the Stanford University School of Medicine.
A randomized controlled trial, published in JAMA Network Open and led by Ariadne Labs, showed that Rural Home Hospital programs can deliver acute care at an equal or lower cost compared to brick-and-mortar hospitals, while providing a better patient experience.
Members of our Home Hospital program authored a perspective in Pediatrics to discuss the emerging need for pediatric acute hospital care at home in the context of policy, economic, and clinical factors.
