Umila Singh
Umila Singh, MFA is a Design Specialist at Ariadne Labs. In this role, she serves as an innovation and design content expert for the Lab, supporting projects to design effective improvement solutions that meet people’s needs and improve their lives. Her professional background includes working as a Senior Innovation Strategist for a safety-net hospital in Paterson, New Jersey, as well as a Strategy Associate for the New York City Administration of Children’s Services, the city’s child welfare system. Working in complex government and healthcare systems, Umila has experience leading projects and conducting user research to elevate the voices and needs of families, patients, and frontline staff. Her design practice is rooted in using equity-centered and participatory tools that bring diverse perspectives to decision-making. She holds a degree in Economics from CUNY Hunter College and an MFA in Design for Social Innovation from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
