Ami Karlage
Ami Karlage is the Senior Specialist for Writing at Ariadne Labs. As a member of the Science & Technology Platform, she works with program and project teams to strengthen the interpretation and contextualization of scientific results and to improve the scientific manuscripts and knowledge products that result from Ariadne’s work.
For more than fourteen years, Ami has worked with Dr. Gawande as a Research Assistant, performing background research, fact checking, and editing for his writing projects, and she currently serves as a consultant on complex literature reviews for teams across Ariadne. Using her experience as a teacher, mentor, and tutor, Ami also provides professional development and coaching to staff and faculty around scientific writing, writing for popular audiences, and background research.
Ami’s background is in the history of science and medicine, including a B.A. in History and Science from Harvard University. She has researched topics from pharmacogenomics to nineteenth-century folk medicine and is trained in oral history as well as more traditional historical research practices.
