Ending the pandemic will require vaccinating everyone in every corner of the globe; it will require robust, adaptive systems that deliver with speed, scale, and equity as supply and demand shift over time.
Ariadne Labs’ Vaccine Delivery team is leveraging years of studying health care delivery systems to support health officials and decision makers with the tools and evidence needed to allocate, distribute, verify, and generate demand for COVID-19 vaccines.
The Vaccine Delivery team was among the first to raise the alarm about the dangers of vaccine nationalism. To assist leaders manage the initial scarcity of COVID-19 vaccines, the Vaccine Delivery team collaborated with the Center for Global Development to build an interactive web tool to generate predictions on the COVID-19 portfolio, in real-time, with up-to-date data.
As the US started to plan for vaccination, the team co-developed the Vaccine Allocation Planner with Surgo Ventures, which has been endorsed by the National Governors Association and has been used by the NYT, WaPo, WSJ, Univision, and others to visualize equitable vaccine delivery.
The Vaccine Delivery team is now working on new COVID-19 vaccine strategies to reach the people and populations not yet vaccinated in the US, including developing an implementation package for primary care providers to engage them in vaccination, aiding state and federal leaders in capturing best practices and figuring out how to track and improve vaccination delivery.
The team serves on the CONVINCE (COVID-19 New Vaccine Information, Communication, and Engagement) coalition to build the communication and demand generation infrastructure that will increase global vaccine confidence, works to inform media, and connects stakeholders around the globe to build bridges for vaccine delivery. The team is leveraging experience analyzing best practices in delivery and its work in the US to help other countries learn and prepare for what’s ahead.
